HAPPY NEW YEAR to all! I hope you guys have a great year, and I wish you have an even greater 2026.
This year gave me many things and took some things, which is common, as the opposites are what make something more valuable than others.
On the first day of the year, I decided to bring back a continuation of a previous post of mine - 1. Year in Books 2024.
Well, after getting used to Goodreads, I sometimes feel it has become more of a showing off than actual reading. Yet, even to show off, I read; that's the only benefit here.
I didn't set the goal like 2024 in the year 2025, as I knew I would not be able to complete the challenge. But, after resigning from the first job, I had one full month, which I intended to utilize fully. But Facebook, YouTube, and games were the culprits on top of that; the appointment letter from the government job was also a tall hurdle. So, I went with a smaller target, and somehow I managed to achieve it. Yay! 🥳🥳🥳🎉🎉🎉
Here are some challenges I completed while reading:
These were nothing but based on the number of books I read during that time. Page-Turner is for 2 books, Speed Reader is for 3 books, and Book Boss is for finishing 4 books during the event time.
On the whole, these are the achievements from 2025:
This is the banner for Goodreads's Year in Books page. I barely crossed the challenge! Well, thanks to the Batman (2025) comics I read while I was waiting in a queue to obtain a medical certificate.
Here are some more information provided by Goodreads.
It looks like the number of the books may have decreased, but the average length increased, but most importantly, the quality of the books (at least according to me) decreased also.
myyearinbooks shows these stats:
The top three genres remained unchanged from the previous year. And here is the December boost I attained, although I wished to finish one book a day.
Of the 37 books I read this year, 17 were read in December alone! Even when I was running several chores! I also liked this represntation.
Including fiction and non-fiction I read a total of 11,405 pages, which is almost 6,000 less than the previous year.
Overall, 2025 was not a good year for reading but was good in many other ways. Well, it was not good for HIVE either. Will 2026 be any different? Time holds the answer to that.
Bye for now. Maybe I will be back soon, hopefully with something else.
