Witches Tarot - Ten of Swords
I woke up in a great mood and feeling energized! It's the Autumn Equinox, Kiva - Battle of Evermore played on the radio as I wiped sleep from my eyes waking up. The second I awoke I instantly remembered it was Mabon and the Autumn Equinox. Considering the good mood I was in, I was actually shocked when I pulled the 10 of Swords on Mabon. I just sat there staring at the card for a few minutes, a little disappointed and confused. The more I stared at the card though and looked past the doom of the man lying face down stuck with swords I realized how perfect it actually was. After some reflection, this is actually a very interesting card to pull today.
Yesterday the eight of Swords was pulled and we see a continuation of that energy today. The eight of swords is the card of confusion and not knowing where to turn. I think in some ways we can all relate to that card in 2020! Most people would agree, this hasn't been an easy year for most and many of us are still looking for answers and trying to make sense of everything that's happening around us.
Tens often represent the ending of a cycle. The autumnal equinox is about balance and gratitude and leaving things behind that no longer serve us and planning ahead for self improvement. With that said, this card is the perfect pull. As I stared at the card I couldn't help but notice the dark autumn background and barren tree. This card is the perfect representation of Autumn. After the warmth of summer, the world dies and enters the cold dark night of winter only to be born again in warmth and light the following spring! We see a flower bloom next to the bested man symbolizing life, new beginnings, growth and rebirth!
2020 has been a difficult year for most of us. I think the ten of swords can often show that it's time to put past traumas and pain behind us. We have to decide the cycle has ended so we can move forward! Let the past die, stop worrying about things we can't control, focus on the future, and know that only in the dark can we truly see the light! Better days are coming!
Happy Mabon and warm blessing to you and yours on this Autumnal Equinox!
