I'm taking you along with me as I create a new card deck for myself. I will create it with an American Indian theme as I did once before. What is Lenormand? - check out my previous article.
Yes, I'm skipping again today as I ruminate over card 11. (I've got feelers out among some of my friends as I ponder its Native meaning.)
Card 12 - Hummingbird
This is another one that evolved quite a bit from the original "Birds." Again, I looked at the meaning of the card and decided to become more specific.
When we think of the Birds, we tend to think of:
- News, ideas, emotions, stress
- Fleeting, temporary, travel, holiday/vacation
- Luck, but also complaints
- Changes, gossip, chatter/twittering
As we change to the Hummingbird, we can add:
- swift playfulness
- vulnerability
For more information on what this card means, check out Lenormand1's interpretation - for combining the Hummingbird with any other card, check out the site: Learn Lenormand
For my new card, For my new card, I hit Google Images search, looking for something with CC0 (Creative Commons 0) licensing meaning that I don't always have to remember to credit someone - essential if I were to start doing paid readings with these cards.
I also had to find out which traditional playing card is associated with this card. So, here is my result:
(Base image sources: Pixabay - hummingbird; Pixabay - dreamcatcher)
I loved this hummingbird picture. But I also wanted to tie in a distinctive American Indian image in, so given the "luck" element of the hummingbird, I decided on a dreamcatcher. To fit it in the picture, I took the original hummingbird picture and separated it into foreground and background layers. (I use GIMP.) The dreamcatcher already had a clear/transparent background, so I just sandwiched it in, behind the hummingbird foreground, but in front of the background image. The card went on top of everything (though I did play with putting it behind the foreground image.) I added the margin and text in Photoscape.
Future
I'm now playing with the idea of doing a full Native American Indian Oracle deck of some sort in the future. I think it would have the greatest scope for being able to give you the message you need at this point in your life... BUT, I love Lenormand too, so definitely plan to use it this way too.
Note: Readings are entertainment only (legally). You are in charge of your own destiny.
