I went to meet my friends in East London and we thought we will try Afghani food. We went to Khyber pass, first peshawari restaurant in UK as they advertise. It was 11pm in the night and not many restaurants were open at this time.
After seating, we were served Elaichi tea, this was a surprise.
The seating was relaxing and casual with food being served and eaten on the mattresses which gives a different feel. We sat on the chairs though.
The interiors were colourful and different and they were hanging old Indian subcontinent cots on the roof.
We were 3 people and shared Mixed grill, lamb ribs and Nans between us.
I could not take the photo of our food as we were hungry and every one of us pounced on the food. I didn’t feel appropriate to stop everyone from eating just to take a picture.
The meat was tender not over or undercooked and it was very tasty. They use rock salt instead of normal salt that gives a distinct taste. It is one of the best grilled food I have eaten over years. They charge the meat by weight which is great.
For three people with soft drinks, the bill was £38, which is not too bad for London. I would not mind paying more for the quality of meat for what it was.
Finally they had these outside the restaurant where we stretched and had post prandial Tea.
I would definitely revisit and highly recommend this restaurant as the food is great and the place is relaxing. My only suggestion is that serving staff need to be sharpen their minds.
Have a great day.
