Hi Tasteem lovers!
After awhile from my previous post, today I would like to share about DIM SUM for breakfast during my trip in China Guangzhou couple of months ago.
The Introduction of DIM SUM
The name Dim Sum is the name for a Southern Chinese Cuisine which involves a wide range of light and a small portion of foods that serves from bamboo steamers.
Dim Sum is a Chinese meal that involves lots of tiny dishes not only from steam dishes but also deep fried and more.
The Outlook
This restaurant is really huge and modern, besides that is really clean with nice ambient lighting and decorations and the best part is the comfortable sitting area which is not too close with other tables.
The restaurant operates their business from;
7:00am - 10:00 pm daily
The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch & dinner.
The entrance
From the outlook of this restaurant nothing attractive due its location and is at the 5th floor of a mall in Guangzhou Province but the interior is amazing!
Let’s check it out inside the restaurant!
The Interior
Once entering the restaurant, is a BIG wow to me!
Is totally different compare from the outside!
The main sitting area after entering the restaurant
It may look small from the first impression but there are more sitting area which is separated into left and right wings!
Amazed me after one of their waitresses brought us for more sitting options!

right-wing sitting area

The Menu
This is the tough one for those who can't read Chinese characters. Their menus are all written in Chinese and none in English! Just a reminder to all travelers, make sure you get a Chinese educated friend or companion that can translate for you. None of their staffs can speak English too!
This is a simple one sheet of the menu with both sides of foods and drinks.
How To Order?
Every table comes with a menu and what you need to do is just tick/write how many you want. After that just get the waitress to collect the menu and ready to be served.
And I’m ready to tick what I want
Drinks
This is another concern to all coffee lovers. Most of the restaurant in China don't serve coffee or English tea but only Chinese Tea!
the packaging of tea leaves - this is how they charge, each person will have one small pack and the the cost for each is 12RMB (1.8USD est).
There are few types of tea you can choose and I've decided to have Oolong Tea for breakfast.
In Canton, what they normally serve are different from another province. They call this “Canton Tea”. The difference comparing other province is you need to prepare yourself. They provide with hot water where you can refill whenever you like!
Hot boiling water
These are the tools to prepare them - tea tray, hot water pot, tea pot, tea leaves, and infuse
粒粒香铁观音 (Tieguanyin) - Iron “Goddess” Tea
Oolong Tea is both tasty and healthy. They are both green and black teas and offers the greatest range of flavors. It has a stronger unique floral taste and aroma
now is ready to drink, oops is just sip due to that tiny cup!
Foods
招牌虾饺妹/特价 - Signature Shrimp Dumpling
These shrimp dumplings are wrapped by a transparent skin which is made from wheat starch, tapioca starch, and just water. It has filled with water chestnuts and bamboo shoots that gives a crunchy texture and nutty flavor
五宝鱼籽烧卖/精 (Shao Mai) - Pork Steamed Dumping
This moist and tender meat of dumplings is another on the ‘must-order’ list in the dim sum menu. The pork dominant filling is wrapped from yellow wonton wrapper. Orange Topping is the crab roe!
至尊蚝王叉烧包/特 - Steamed BBQ Pork Bun
Pork Bun will never be missed together with another dim sum dishes. The dough was cakey and the only dissatisfied is the filling. They are too little of barbecue pork but beside that is perfect in every bite
头抽炒面/顶 - Canton Stir-Fried Noodles
This may look simple but the texture is springy. This dish is made with thin egg noodles which is very similar to wonton noodles
Total Bill
Total = 123RMB (18USD)
*What do you think? Is this consider expensive breakfast for 2? For me I think is reasonable price with the place and services they provided.
Important Notice
There are a few different prices on the same menu and the same dishes. Is just the day when you go for (for example; if is on weekend Saturday, Sunday & Public Holiday, there are additional charges)
This is not the only restaurant they own but there are few more branches In China.
Dim Sum is a pleasure both on your palate and to your eyes. Aren't they making you salivating?
