Hi Steemians and Tasteemians!
If you are in Vienna, make sure you don´t miss the traditional Viennese coffeehouses! Especially around Christmas where you can warm up yourself after spending some time at the "Christkindlmarkets". One of the most traditional coffeehouses is the "Cafe Tirolerhof" in the inner district, right between the Albertina and the Kapuzinergruft, two sightseeing highlight of Vienna.
The interior is from the 1920ies, in Art deco style and was recently carefully restored, including the mirrors, the marble tables and Thonet chairs from 1925/26.
If you order a coffee (in this case a "Kleiner Brauner" (small brown one), it is served with warmed milk separately and a glass of water, as it should be.
They are famous for their apple strudels, called "Apfelstrudel". In the background of the showcase you can see plum cakes.
But this time I had ordered a "Kaiserschmarrn" which is basically a cut-up and sugared pancake with raisins, served with a plum sauce - very delicious!
It is no longer a secret that this is a great place to go, so you need sometimes luck to get a free table. I recommend to preorder one by phone. The prices are not low, but adequate given the quality and the atmosphere. And the service was very good. In Vienna the waiters are notoriously unfriendly, but I had a very good and humorous one.
