Food van at the street
Suddenly we got us infront of a food van, when walking on the street of Baraiyarhat, Chittagong at 24 November.
It was the early evening & we were a little bit hungry, looking for afternoon meal. I offered my colleague to take some street food popularly known as_ Vapa Pitha_. He accepted.
What about Vapa Pitha?
Winter comes every year bringing some traditional flapjacks at Bangladesh.
The most famous flapjack is Stewing Flapjack locally called Vapa/Dhupi Pitha. Vap/Dhup means Steam & Pitha means flapjack.
What was offered to us?
The van offered hot flapjacks that was being prepared infront of us.
It was spreading sweet flavour. Many people gathered around the van. It is something different from the food we usually took at different decorated restaurants.
Speciality & distinction
At this early winter evening, Vapa Pitha was tested like a delicious food. We enjoyed it very much. It had a traditional smell and flavour. It made the winter more aristocratic.
How prepared?
It is prepared by rice flour mixed with coconut and molasses.
The flapjack is shaped by a small cup or bowl and Stewing with a pitcher.
