As I write this, the Australian public has voted with a 60% majority supporting Same Sex Marriage.
No matter my personal opinions, I think this is a good strong result for the Yes campaign there can be no questioning of the validity of the peoples opinion.
I just hope with this result we now see a reduction in the hateful speech that was spread by the Yes campaigners over the past 3 months. The campaign was far from a message of peace, love and tolerance.
I hope to see protections in place for businesses that choose not to support Same Sex Marriage on religious grounds. If I was a devoutly religious photographer, I would hate to be prosecuted if I refused to service a gay marriage due to those beliefs. A business owner has the right to refuse service to anyone, they are the ones turning away the money. I hope protections are going to be put in place for business freedoms.
Congratulations again to the YES campaign on achieving the result that you have desired for many years.
