What a huge loss for the world and especially the science community. Stephen Hawking who's fame and humour even led him to star on "The Simpsons" will sorely be missed. At age 21 he was diagnosed with ALS (aka as Lou Gehrig’s Disease or motor neurone disease in the UK) and given only 2 years to live but that did not stop him from becoming one of the most influential thinkers of our time.
During his movie Hawking, which was narrated by himself via his world renowned voice synthesizer, Hawking discussed an interesting point, “Sometimes I wonder, If I’m as famous for my wheelchair and disabilities as I am for my discoveries.” A point that sheds light into his inner feelings and thoughts and show even with his intellect, he had the same insecurities as normal folk.
Over 50 years later with a distinguished career at Cambridge and the honor of being inducted into the Royal Society, alongside other names like Sir Isaac Newton and Charles Darwin, he was still working hard trying to solve the mysteries of the universe.
RIP, Stephen Hawking
You will be sorely missed
