Happy Weekend Steemians. I do hope you are enjoying it before the Monday Blues kicks in. As I was browsing thru some of the great posts available on steemit, I began to realize that a lot of steemians are utilising bots for their posts.
This post is not meant to review upvote bots however its to provide my point of view on the usage of an upvote bot. Its really up to you to decide on what you think about using these bots.
Why use and upvote bot ? ( Top 3 reasons )
I want my post to make more $$$ ( obviously ). Some upvote bots does a ratio between 1:1.3 -2.5 on the upvotes making it profitable for the author of the post. However, there are times when price of Steem is inflating, you would be getting way much less then what you paid for.
I want to make it to the hot list or trending list fast !! By hitting the hot/trending list section fast, the chances your post get seen by a larger audience who are trolling in that category is much higher. As the saying goes "Visibility is Key to Success"
I want to get curated. There are some upvote bots who also provide bonuses which will pick their favourite post of the day / week and feature them in their weekly/daily updates.
When should I use the upvote bot ?
Depending on what you want to achieve, these are just my views.
- 0 - 30 minutes
If you want to receive the full 100% of the curation rewards from the upvote bot, this is the best time to use an upvote bot. This is purely because voting on a post which is below 30 minutes, the author receives a large chunk of the curation rewards. Yes, you do hit the hot post pretty quick and if you use a combination of bots, you may even get to the top of the hot list for a short while.
- 30 minutes -24 hours
Similar to above however you will not receive the curation rewards ( eg. if the upvote was $1, you only get the $0.75 ). You still may hit the hot/trending list pretty quick.
A quick tip, if you have heard about project
, this is where curators will find exceptional posts and get it submitted for
- 1 day - 6.5 days
You may hit the trending list but with bots its very unlikely. If you look at the trending posts, its mostly due to steemians which have really high amount of followers or a minnow has just written a really really quality post and a large number of people seems to like it therefore upvoted on it.
How to use a upvote bot ?
I'm going to share with you a few of the upvote bots and their introduction post to give you an idea on how to use them. These are just a few of the many many bots out there. I do occasionally use these bots especially when my steempower %% is very low
- 450k steempower | with investment option
- 250k steempower | with human curation
- 373k steempower | one of the first most successful upvote bots
- 84k steempower | free to use upvote bot but only one post a day
Its not wrong to use upvote bots and sometimes I personally do find it useful as the developers of these newer bots has included more then just upvoting posts, it also provides extra benefits for posts which are upvoted.
There are many other upvoting bots out on steemit which I have not mentioned, however before you spend your hard earned $$$ on these bots, do consider growing your followers organically by writing good quality content, engaging with the community with your comments and upvotes and using the correct hashtag for all your posts. This is where you can build your audience and they will follow and upvote you for a long long time.
