Here, we are highly depended on tourism as one of the economy driver. As stated by the Sabah Tourism Board, tourism is Sabah’s largest and one of the most important economic pillars that supports more than 80,000 jobs. In 2019, Sabah recorded a 5.3% increase in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the service sector with an approximate RM39 billion or 46.1% of the total Sabah GDP.
In year 2020- 2021, we saw too dependent on single source of income had created a fragile revenue. Therefore, we see blockchain technology could become one of the Sabah’s Economic Pillar by encouraging locals to develop Dapps or innovate in Layer 1 blockchain. These are require no or little raw material and resource to developing it. Developer only require the correct news and investor that could make their apps operational in mainnet.
Further to that, this is a trend that cannot be ignore anymore with more private institution are getting involve in the crypto development. The data for the crypto adoption rate also had risen and it closely match the internet adoption pattern.
So far, most locals do know how to own a web3 based wallet and trade in exchanges, but our mission is targeted beyond trading, that is helping local to innovate with this technologies.
