Today marks my 3rd week since my first post on Steemit. I have posted exactly 12 writen posts, excluding comments and replies. How much I’ve made? Well, that’s no secret either! 😂
Was Born
Well, I have to admit, it hasn’t been smooth sailing nor was it as easy as 1, 2, 3 when i was introduced to Steemit. All I knew was - Steemit is all about blogging and you get paid for blogging. Great! How hard can it be right? They say, imagine it to be like Facebook or Instagram. Instead of posting, contribute your posts here and get paid for it! No registration fees involved, no deposit needed, not an MLM business... Awesome! So I signed up immediately and 48 hours later was born a Steemian known as .
I’m going to be honest here, I’m not a computer or tech savvy person, nor am I an active blogger. Yes, I do post on Facebook and Instagram, but only occasionally. When I first signed up, I knew very little of what Steemit was all about and how it works.
1st Steemit Gathering
Lucky for me & , we were invited to an “Introduction to Steemit”, a talk spearheaded by
, organised by
. It was there that I learnt that Steemit is all about blockchain technology. What is Blockchain Tehnologhy? Like I said, I’m still not so well versed with this term, I’m still learning.😜 I also attended a “Steemit 101” workshop invitiated by
and lead by
where he shared more on the technical side of Steemit, which helped tremendously, especially in my blogging.
“Just blog”, they say, sounds easy too, but blogging is not really what I’m used to be doing. For the first time I even struggled draft my first post to Introducemyself. You get excited and frustrated at the same time. Haha!
The 50:100:200:25 Rule
Then I stumbled upon this post, A Thumb Rule for Steemit Minnows - 50:100:200:25 by . Found this post quite helpful and helped me understand what I needed to do as a new beginner. Here’s a summary of the 50:100:200:25 Rule:-
• Follow at least 50 interesting people
• Comment on at least 100 posts
• Upvote at least 200 posts
• Write at least 25 posts
“If you can’t beat them, join them!”
I still struggle and get frustrated from time to time. I’m still learning. Just thought I’d share with those who are just like me, struggling, trying to learn and grow in this community. Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Just hang in there, your big break will come!😊
For those who are interested and keen to learn and gain more tips on blogging skills, there is an upcoming “Steemit Masterclass”, initiated by and the main speaker will be
. The workshop will be held on 10 & 11 February 2018 at Kota Kinabalu.
I’m looking forward to learn more, meet more Steemians, ready to climb the ladder. So let’s encourage, teach and support each other... Let’s Steem on together! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
