Last week we received some bad news about one of our existing MHP at Kampung Buayan, Penampang Borneo is broken down due to one "hungry Gecko" doing suicide attempt and get killed. It was a major loss for the villagers that now the Kampung Buayan has no Electricity.
KAMIKAZE SUICIDE SQUAD GECKO - MAIN CHARACTER/THE REAL CULPRIT
Kampung Buayan, Penampang is a Dusun village of 24 households located in the outskirts of the Crocker Range State Park. There is a proposal to build a dam around Kampung Buayan in order to provide drinking water for residents of Kota Kinabalu and Penampang. If the project moves forward, Buayan will be inundated and the villagers forced to resettle.
The community installed a 10 kw MHP system and the construction was completed in 2010. The community had been using the pre-paid cards with set fee (RM 0.45 per kWh) to collect funding to pay the community operators and for simple maintenance.

The MHP had been functional since 2010 without major repairs although the system experienced frequent service disruptions during the dry season. The system also experienced disruptions during large storm events in the wet season due to debris clogging the intake and forebay. But still functional until the Suicidal Kamikaze Gecko landed on the Digital Load Controller (DLC) and now is totally BUSTED. Deep Sigh....

The MHP system has been down since and we urgently need to replace the DLC in order to bring the MHP system back online. The DLC is like the heart of the MHP System, without it the system is totally useless, and it cost around RM 10,000 (USD 2,500). Our TONIBUNG team is now trying to fund raise money to help the Kampung Buayan Community to buy new DLC. We would like to call and appeal to any generous Steemians to give us a helping hand or support in our effort to fundraised for the Kampung Buayan community.
Ever since the system down, the village has been in total darkness, just like living in dark ages. Kids cannot do their study at night and adult cannot do their chores in darkness. If you want to feel what they feel, then you just have to close your eyes…. its dark. That’s how it is in that village at the moment.
