I have just been promoted to ML on NanoWrimo.
I am the 3rd ML in the long line of MLs in Malaysia.
We have been a small group of writers as there are not many people that usually participate in the event. But I hope that I will be able to create a whole new generation of writers here in Malaysia.
That's the dream of being ML here right now.Being ML is going to be a whole lot of fun. In the past, there hasn't been much that was done. But from this year onwards, things are going to change. You can bet on it. But the plans will be kept to myself. As not to jinx anything.
NanoWrimo is the National Novel Writing Month that is held every November each year. There are now camps in April and July too, making it 3 out of 12 months that people get together to write.
I am going to be in charge of recruiting and raising donations for NanoWrimo in Malaysia. That is going to be a whole challenge in itself.
Yesterday, I was watching a streamer that made a really good game. But he has already stopped because there doesn't seem to be much people warming up to the game.
The thing is I told him that the game didn't get into the right people's hands. When he rebuked my answer, I looked further into his postmortem. The game was put up on September 2019. By February 2020, the game was deemed a failure. That is 5 months since the game went on sale. I looked at what he said in his blog post. There seems to be word that said that education people were interested but it was too little too late. It got into the hands of kids and it was doing well.
But he quit right after. That's the problem.
They were putting the benchmark too high when they were comparing themselves with Minecraft that had a big following from the beginning. This is also there very first game. If they were to look at Angry Birds, they didn't hit success until a few games later.
If they were to have been able to put themselves in that frame of mind that they can somehow be like Angry Birds, I think they would be better off and not think about quitting.
It is just a pity that they have quit so fast.
I pray that they will be doing well no matter what they do in the near future. He has already gotten a place in either Google or Amazon to work. So the future may still be bright.
At least, they can pick up more experience before striking out on their own again.
