St Marys Church

On a Walk in Long Island City, I came across St Mary's Roman Catholic Church on the corner of Vernon and 49th Streets, with these statues out the front.
Unfortunately by the time I got there was near the end of my walk and the streets here were getting busy, and I just couldn't get a shot without people in shot.

I thought it was worth a shot of the Steeple as well quite cool detail on it.

And a shot of the Church Itself, I did some research online and found the Church in this area had a troubled start, including the church and 30 buildings in the area being destroyed in a fire inn 1893.

The current Church in a gothic style was completed in dedicated on October 29th 1894
