Today was a very sad day for me.
My sister died, the one with my kidney.
The kidney received in April 1985
A successful attempt to keep her alive.
--
We had her around for 26 more years
Now it’s time to shed all of those delayed tears.
Even though they had her hooked to a machine
What did her in was that COVID-19.
--
On our lives together I often reflect
It’s mostly the good times I recollect.
I’ll really miss her for the rest of my days.
Her laugh and smile my memory replays.
--
If there is a heaven that is where she will be.
Sitting on a fluffy cloud, waiting for me.
She will no longer be hurting, no more pain
Just loving the happiness of her domain.
--
I know she’ll be in heaven, but I may not
I’ll have to change my life some to have a shot.
If I see her again she will discover.
That she is still loved by her oldest brother.
