Hello dear Steemians!
I am now back after a few weeks leave to accompany my Aunt to the Opthalmologist and work on her medical records. While working on her medical records my son CJ was also confined in the hospital due to Urinary Retention with Diarrhea. For weeks I was not able to write my articles as I cannot concentrate while my son is in pain and I was also lack of sleep.
Taking care of my son CJ who has a special needs as you may all know and my Mom is now a calling if I may say. I have an additional family member in my care, my Aunt the younger sister of my mother who is temporarily blind due to her cataract. Taking care of them both is no joke! COMPASSION, PATIENCE, UNDERSTANDING and UNCONDITIONAL LOVE are the qualities that I must possess or I break down and turn my heel from them....

I am no angel but this is one great qualities that I have. They say I am a compassionate and with a kind heart person. I personally takes care of my son for almost two decades and now an additional family member, my Aunt. Maybe God has given them to me to know the true meaning of life as I am a sensitive person who can really relate to the needs of other people.
- PATIENCE - the quality of being patient, as the bearing of provocation, annoyance, misfortune, or pain, without complaint, loss of temper, irritation, or the like. source.
This is one quality that God has tried me for my reins is so short and I am easily get irritated. Honestly, I was surprised with my patience at the time that my son CJ was diagnosed to have an Epileptic Cerebral Palsy. I have the capacity to accept or tolerate his tantrums without getting angry or upset. This is what I have also learned by taking care of my Aunt.
- UNDERSTANDING - To be thoroughly familiar with; apprehend clearly the character, nature, or subtleties of; sympathetically aware of other people's feelings; tolerant and forgiving. source
I have to always put myself to their situation though there are times that I cried because I am too tired and lack of sleep, it gets under my skin but then I have to gather my senses and energy, tell myself that I am the only person that they can depend on!
- UNCONDITIONAL LOVE - It is known as affection without any limitations, or love without conditions. It is sometimes associated with other terms such as true altruism or complete love. Real Love, unconditional love is, in essence, true love -- so different from the kind of love most of us have known all our lives that it deserves a definition of its own. Unconditional love is caring about the happiness of another person without any thought for what we might get for ourselves. source
No one can beat UNCONDITIONAL LOVE. In taking care of persons with disability you must possess this quality above all else or you will never understand their conditions and will never understand life itself.
Taking care of of them is an everyday struggle. I also have to take care of myself at the same time as no one will take care of them for my Mom is also half blind. Almost all the doctors in the hospital who knew me, especially my son's doctor would tease me that I am WONDER WOMAN (how I wish I am!) Well, as I have said God assigned me on this tasks as my vocation and with His help I know I can overcome every trial that comes my way! God is good all the time He will not forsake me. To tell you, He even provided some people to help me especially on spiritual and financial matters.
