How cool is it to be in the starting stages on not one but several up-and-coming paradigm shifting technologies. And I am not even talking about AI and quantum computing. We are starting to see apps and use cases for these new technologies and it proves how exciting the tech is. There is a lots of talk of the things to come but I have seen each of these first hand and can tell you things are getting pretty crazy.
VR:
The only thing holding back VR is the cost... well that and the need to have a full rig so you can walk without tripping over something. But to be fair that goes under cost. I remember first stages on this tech in the 90s with things like the virtual boy. It was clear the tech has a way to go, though the all-red gaming machine was a step in the right direction. And now we have fully immersive experiences that are going to lead to some amazing games and educational experiences.
AR:
Pokemon Go. Like it or not that game proved this tech works. There will be several games in the near future that will push this tech forward and companies will be using this tech to get people in stores and concerts as you will have to be in a specific spot in the real world to use it. There is also the possibility of some really cool scavenger hunts :p.
Blockchain:
It is easy to be hesitant on this with as we are seeing a lot of icos and not a lot of use cases yet. But then you have steemit. This site is two years old and proves not only the tech works but can really change social media, gaming and any business that involves transactions (pretty much all of them). With steemit you can get rewarded for your content and send a cryptocurrency anywhere around the world for free in seconds. And think of the apps to come with smart contracts.
It really is a time of big changes and I am exciting of the things to come.
