Happy 8th Birthday Apple Watch
ORIGINAL APPLE WATCH VS SE GPS EDITION
I still use the original Apple Watch. I'm talking about the Series zero, launched exactly 8 years ago on April 10, 2015. I made a video comparing it to a much newer version released seven years later, 2022, and published it yesterday. It was an absolute coincidence that I did that on the Apple Watch's birthday, a fact that I was oblivious to until a minute ago after typing the first sentence of this post :)
Anyhow, for my requirements, the original Apple Watch is actually sufficient. I see a lot of new smart watches that are ultra modern and have all these fancy things, but the original Apple Watch actually does everything I need it to do very well. Also, because it was the first version, it was actually really well made - which is why it's still alive and kicking till this day. I didn't purchase it, I acquired it from my brother who, after using it for a month or so, abandoned it for something new. So I got it for free and have used it since 2018.
The other watch, the SE GPS, is a much more advanced version with a cellular option and a better heart rate monitor. It's also water resistant to a much higher degree. Of course, it also has a better processor which means it can handle tasks a lot faster than it's older sibling.
You couldn't buy the original watch from Apple if you tried - not even refurbished. You couldn't by it on Amazon either. However, you can still find it on eBay. You could even be lucky and find a new one that had been stored away, or never sold, or whatever. I'd pick that over a no-name brand of smart watch that would probably break in a couple of months. Also, because it's so old, it'd probably be underpriced.
Peace & Love,
