Oneplus raises the bar of affordable flagship phones once again with their new Oneplus 5T model.
Design
The screen is a 6,01-inch Optic AMOLED panel with 18:9 aspect ratio and 2160*1080 pixels resolution.
The back is made from metal and is curved.
The device is ever-so-slightly taller than the Oneplus 5.
Hardware
The phone is powered by the same Snapdragon 835 chipset as found in Oneplus 5. The RAM and internal memory amount can be equal to 6 GB/64 GB or 8 GB/128 GB depending on the version. The capacityt of the battery is 3300 mAh, which should offer enough juice for the full day of active usage or even more.
Camera
The main camera now has no telephoto lens and no optical zoom, but this does not affect the zoomed image quality. It consists of 20MP and 16MP modules, both with f/1.7 aperture. Low-light performance should also be significantly improved thanks to the Intelligent Pixel technology which combines 4 pixels into one when needed. Frontal camera is the same 16MP unit as the one found in the Oneplus 5.
Software
The smartphone ships with Oxygen OS 4.7 skin on top of the Android 7.1.1 Nougat.
Price and availability
The phone will be available for the same price as the Oneplus 5 - 500 USD for 6 GB/64 GB model and 560 USD for 8 GB/128 GB model in US. Look at the map of countries where the smartphone will be available (red):
Verdict
The 5T is a great upgrade of the existing model. Of course, features like DAC or water resistance are still lacking, but the trendy 18:9 screen, good camera setup and top-tier specs are present.
Should you buy it?
Yes! No other flagship smartphone has a better value than this.
