Automation 101: Tasks that probably cannot be mostly automated by 2030
Previous blog: Automation 101 part one: What can be automated and what cannot be?Automation 101 part one: What can be automated and what cannot be?
In my previous blog about automation I discussed the hardest tasks that we have already automated. Next question was what cannot be automated by 2030?
After couple of days brainstorming, I come with a list of work that cannot be automated by 2030 and few reasons:
Sophisticated programming:
By 2030, most of the repetitive tasks and some of the cognitive tasks will be automated. But even those tasks will require sophisticated codes that will still require programmers.Voting on controversial issues:
We have biased positions on all political issues. We don't want robots to make decisions on issues that can go against us at least by robotic votes.Emotional tasks:
Emotional support or consultation that requires human voice, touch and body languages will still require significant computational power and material progress by 2030.Scientific discoveries:
It requires years of training, testing and practice to build a scientific intuition to make breakthrough discoveries in Science. It will still be hard to build such intuitions in robots by 2030.Integration of complex systems:
System On Chip design, a processor design, even a powerful robot or automated system require an integration trial, design and validation with years of human experience.Major forms of arts:
Art is in eyes of beholders. Therefore, robot or AI will create art by analyzing human hedonism. But still human creativity in art and performance will have demand to us.Popular team sports and games:
It will be hard to make a soccer team that can beat Barcelona or a team that can beat Cleveland Cavaliers. Even the complex skill of Lionel Messi or LeBron James is hard to replicate. However, there is a ongoing goal to beat world best soccer team with a robotic team by 2050.Cooking, design and creative tasks similar to arts:
Taste depends on human eaters. Therefore, there will be demand for creative chefs and recipes. Same goes for other designs that requires human type deep level subjective understanding.
What do you think the work or tasks that cannot be automated (major part of that task or work) by 2030?
