The Era Of Waves
Released already 5 years ago, the Bioinitiative Report 2012 bring more evidence for the harmfulness of electromagnetic fields and wireless technologies.
The report examines more than 1,800 new scientific studies showing that mobile phone users, prospective parents, young children and pregnant women are at particular risk. This concerns electromagnetic frequencies emitted by power lines, electrical wiring, devices and handsets as well as wireless technologies (cellular and wireless phones, cellular stations, "smart meters", Wi-Fi, wireless laptops , Wireless routers, baby monitor and other electronic devices).
Risk of glioma
Studies show an increased risk of glioma (a malignant tumor of the brain) and acoustic neuroma with the use of mobile phones and wireless. According to Lennart Hardell, Doctor of Medicine, University of Orebro, Sweden, pre-epidemiological episodes indicate that waves should be classified as carcinogenic to humans. Today they are considered to be "possibly carcinogenic" ... The Swedish physician has added reference levels and public safety limits are not enough to protect public health.
Risk for sperm
The report mentions a dozen studies on the impact of waves on sperm. Placed in a pocket or on a belt, the mobile phone can harm sperm DNA, deform it and so on male fertility. But mobile phones are not the only ones accused: laptops equipped with Wi-Fi connection will also have a negative effect on sperm DNA.
Risk of autism
Several studies also point to a possible link between autistic problems and wireless technologies. According to Dr. Martha Herbert, it is important to reduce exposure thresholds for wireless and electromagnetic frequencies for people with autistic disorders, children of all ages, people planning to have a child and during pregnancy.
Risk for cerebral development of the fetus
Wireless devices such as phones and laptops used by pregnant women may alter the brain development of the fetus. According to important studies on animals and humans, this results in hyperactivity, but also learning and behavioral problems.
Other health aspects related to electromagnetic waves are mentioned in the report, including damage to DNA and genes, effects on memory, learning, behavior, attention, sleep disturbances, Cancer and neurological diseases such as Alzheimer's disease. According to David O. Carpenter, a medical doctor and co-editor, there is now much more evidence of health risks for billions of people around the world. The status quo is unacceptable in light of the evidence of damage.
A first Bioinitiative report published in 2007 had already highlighted the harmful effects of wireless technologies (cellular stress, genotoxicity, risks of brain tumors or leukemias, etc.) based on the knowledge of the time. The Bioinitiative 2012 report reinforced the certainty of the harmfulness of the waves and shows the urgency of implementing new safety standards to protect the population from electromagnetic frequencies and the wireless technologies that are today part of everyday life.
Now, 5 years later, what did we do to protect ourselves? Tell me in the comments if you have an idea!
