Do you want the 'Good News' or the 'Bad News' first?
Okay, so I just feel compelled to write this. The FUTURE might need our help faster than we think...
I am a HUGE optimist, but I'm feeling a growing concern. And it's coming on FAST.
I'm just going to shoot straight from the hip.
I believe the future is going to need our help faster than we think. Why?
Do you want the 'Good News' or the 'Bad News' first?

THE GOOD
Well, for quite some time now we are seeing the rapid, exponential, changes being made with technology. This technology is all fine and good and many believe this can usher in an age of 'technological nirvana' or 'abundance'.
No, don't get me wrong...this sounds wonderful!!! - But, are we being a little naive?
I'll let you be the judge.

THE BAD
You see, while the optimists keep us focused on the prize ahead of us, it seems to me that very few are "PRACTICALLY" addressing what others are calling "technological unemployment" or as I'll phrase it "potential misery, mayhem, and madness for the masses."

THE TRUTH
Okay, well we've probably all heard this before.
Here is the truth...
The "Truth" lies somewhere in between.
*********************************************************************************************
So, we might have technological nirvana or abundance...
OR maybe the TRUTH lies right in the middle
OR we might have massive technological unemployment...

I don't know about you all, but it seems to me that we should do everything in our power to avoid the BAD and strive for the GOOD. But, are we doing enough to make this happen?
There are a lot of great leaders out there attempting to make the GOOD happen, but it seems to me that the pace of exponential change is perhaps coming faster than even our best futurist organizations and leaders can prepare the world for. The reason I say this is because even the very futurists themselves that are advocating the GOOD are acknowledging that the TRANSITION may not be smooth sailing for everyone.
The argument of technological unemployment...
There seem to be two sides again perhaps the truth is in the middle.
One viewpoint is that YES, technology will cause unemployment, BUT new jobs that we can't even conceive of at the moment will come into existence to replace the old ones.
So,NO, nothing to be concerned about.
The other viewpoint is that NO, technology will unemployment, BUT new jobs that we can't even conceive of at the moment will come into existence to replace the old ones, BUT there will be too little, too late. Essentially, the PACE of change will just be so rapid that even new jobs won't be created fast enough.
So, YES, we are concerned (and perhaps you should be too).
Here's my 2 cents...
We are all trying to SURVIVE. (and hopefully THRIVE!)
There are a few ways to survive.
Work for someone else (employee).
Work for yourself (entrepreneur).
Let others work for you (gov't).
The skills required to be an employee are different than that required to be an entrepreneur. It takes entrepreneurs to create new opportunities for new employees.
If traditional jobs get replaced, will people be able to transition fast enough?
1) Will entrepreneurs create new opportunities for employees fast enough?
2) Will employees be able to become new entrepreneurs fast enough?
3) If not, will government act fast enough? (Ha, this is a joke :)
I'll leave this topic here for the moment.
Get Ready,
the future might need our help...
