the Malaysian government has not given an answer to the legalization of cryptocurrencies
The local press has determined that cryptocurrencies have not been legalized in Malaysia.
yesterday January 12, Khalid Abdul Samad (the minister of federal territories) affirmed; "The situation is not clear", so they are not legal but not illegal either.
Samad also noted that although he participated in the launch of Harapan Coin (HRP), he was not in the position of finance minister so the matter does not fall within his jurisdiction.
In December 2018, as reported by Cointelegraph, the financial regulator and the central bank of Malaysia issued a joint statement in which they confirmed that they were establishing a regulation of the assets in cryptocurrency and initial offer of currencies (ICO).
Samad also proposed to the "negara" bank of Malaysia and the prime minister that the digital currency be used, harapan coin, for government transactions.
