What is this thing?

I am confused and do not understand how this thing works. How such an object is so very important. Do you know what this is?

This object is one of the components in the hard disc computer.
I took this picture when I worked as a stamping operator in one of the manufacturing companies in Batam Island.
Maybe the engineers understand how it works, and what it does to the hard disk of the computer.
