Linux Mint is an open source Operating System based on Linux distributions: Debian and Ubuntu. Its first release dates from 2006. The purpose of this project is to offer the end user a stable, powerful and easy to use system. Its design is elegant and modern, very predictable for those people accustomed to Windows. The latest version is Linux Mint 18.3 "Sylvia" and has support until the year 2021, however, Linux Mint 19 "Tara" will be available in June 2018 and will have critical security updates until the year 2023. It is expected that this new version has more success than Linux Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, another of the most popular variants of Linux.
