OpenAI, a company backed by people like Elon Musk and Peter Thiel, as well as companies like Amazon and Microsoft, developed an artificial intelligence capable of playing 1v1 DotA, one of the most popular competitive games.
Last week's "The International", the biggest and most important DotA-Tournament of the year, paying almost 25 million dollars in total prize money, featured a showmatch between Danil "Dendi" Ishutin, one of the best DotA players of all time and the AI.
OpenAI won both matches in a very convincing fashion, leaving audience and players stunned.
Although right now, Dendi is not at his peak when it comes to DotA, OpenAi also beat several other professionals before, all of which have years of experience playing competitive DotA, while the bot only learned the game for two weeks by letting it play against itself and being given feedback by its creators.
