The evolution of transhumanism and the transformations of humans into cybernetics are really getting more complex by the day. You wouldn’t be totally wrong to infer that we’ve entered the era of Enhanced Humans (Human+, or H+). One of the major tool in which this era is armed with is: Smart Prosthetics (Prosthetic that would be totally controlled with the mind).
Orthotics and Prosthetics are really not a new term in the field of medicine. They are as old as tech, but we’re not just looking at just the usual prosthetics, but the ones that will function in full capacity as the body part; even better. That is the nature of emerging tech.
Cybernetic Prosthetics
Before now, prosthetics were majorly seen as an aid to amputees, but evolution is changing all that. From the case of Viktoria Modesta (the first person to willingly subscribe to being a cyborg), as she volunteered to replace her limb with a cybernetic limb; there’s now a paradigm shift from “prosthetics as necessity” to “prosthetics as enhancement”. Cybernetics meet AI
With the trend of evolution, there’s now a very thin blue line separating cybernetics and Artificial Intelligence. We’ve clearly seen both of them being merged to produce “bad ass” Prosthetics.
In the words of Elon musk in response to this trend of evolution, he said:
The era of Artificial Intelligence could possibly lead to the end of humanity -Elon Musk {Paraphrased by me}
That could mean when AI has fully merged with cybernetics. Have you ever imagined a bionic arm which is also a full-time weapon arsenal?
Also Stephen hawking made a witty statement in reaction to AI merging with cybernatics, he said:
Artificial intelligence has the potential to destroy mankind -Stephen Hawkings {Paraphrased by me}
Now this is getting scarier. To say that these enhanced humans will intimidate and have an edge over the normal humans, is just to say the least (I just hope they will license these bionics against unlawful usage). But even among these enhanced humans, there will also be battle for superiority, and the impact of this will definitely be felt in the human community.
Just like Elon Musk also said:
The third world war will be triggered by the battle for superiority in AI – Elon Musk
Now you’ve all agreed to the fact that humans are rapidly merging with machines. But there’s another possibility in this; that is the merging of mutants with enhanced cybernetic humans.
Cybernetic humans merge with mutants
It’s not news to the fact that humans can undergo genetic transmutations to create humans with the desired traits and abilities. At least, genetic engineering has taken care of this. But what if these mutants finally merge with AI and cybernetics? That will be creating an army of “immortal humans”.
Imagine if this tech falls into the wrong hand. I hope it doesn’t.
