After a big scandal with Facebook and Cambridge Analitica, which used confidential data of 87 million users of the largest social networking site, Mark Zuckerberg announced that he would soon send a notification to all those involved in this disgusting practice, to whitewash the image of the site and show that he is nevertheless He's their privacy.
This is a good step for Zuckerberg, because at least these people will be aware that the whole affair is about them. Christopher Wylie, who worked at Cambridge Analitica, says that a data leak could affect more than 87 million users and could exceed 100 million. He also believes that data could fall into the hands of the Kremlin.
For several weeks Facebook has been intensively working to improve the safety of its users on the site. One of the most important, but at the same time arousing a lot of controversy, is the option of deleting messages in Facebook Messengerze.
Interestingly, until now only such a possibility had Mark Zuckerberg, the head of Facebook. Everyone will be able to do it now. The problem, however, is that the messages sent, despite being deleted, will still be permanently stored on the servers, and the removal of uncomfortable messages from the conversation will lead to manipulation.
Recall that after the scandal Mark announced that he intends to introduce a lot of changes to the site, thanks to which in the future he has no longer come to similar practices. At the beginning, all applications available on the website are to be analyzed. This is especially true for those who have access to a large amount of our data. If they do not comply with the new policy, they will be blocked immediately.
This will also apply to applications unused by users for at least 3 months. Facebook will also inform users what their data has been used by individual applications and their creators. And most importantly, the amount of confidential information will be limited to which applications can have access. Only the profile picture, email address and name will remain.
Zuckerberg and his team also want to give security control to their users. According to this idea, all those who will inform Facebook about vulnerabilities in security and other dangerous phenomena will be rewarded.
