Due to the rising emissions of carbon, could the gas threatening the entire world be used for the growth of plants or for industrial purpose? Currently these efforts are underway. If this succeeds, it could solve the biggest environmental problem of human kind across the globe. Though this solution may not come cheap.
Due to climate change, the increasing amount of greenhouse gases in the Earth's atmosphere has become a major problem in the world. The amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is increasing day by day. Recently in the month of November 2017 a high-level conference was held on solving the problem of climate change in Bonn, Germany. These efforts are to reduce carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions.
Surprisingly; in Zurich, Switzerland a machine that absorbs atmospheric carbon dioxide gas emissions has already been developed. It’s Pollution Cleaner similar to Vaccum Cleaner! This machine aims to absorb one percent of contaminated gas in the atmosphere by 2025. Swiss Company Climeworks is the one which developed this highly absorbing 'pollution cleaner' system. This is done using 18 huge fans which absorbs the atmospheric air and the high-tech filters within it starts removing the carbon dioxide from the sucked air. These filters are heated at a high temperature to process pure air out of it. The potential of this machine is huge. Currently, it has the capacity to absorb 900 ton of the atmospheric gases annually.
Climeworks has made a detailed plan regarding the use of this gas for industrial use. This gas is used to grow plants in the greenhouse. Due to this 40 percent rapid vegetable growth has been noticed. The company sells this air-absorbed gas at a rate of 600$ per ton. This gas price will be reduced in the future if the gas production increases due to corresponding demand.
Reducing the quantity of carbon dioxide in the environment can be an appropriate step to reduce greenhouse gas emissions when it is industrially used. Many international organizations are supporting this environmental change which is an evolving technology of carbon absorption in the air by transforming it into energy!
