It's #teletuesday again and there are still more of these short Brent Mason country solos that Levy Clay is transcribing. This one is quite bendy and has a lap steel feel about it.
Speaking of bendy.
There was a YouTube clip that popped up in my feed from the channel "Music is Win" with some new stuff from Steve Vai and a technique he has been working on. It's all about finger independence where one finger bends up and holds while another is still and yet another is bending a different way. The clip with "Music is Win" guy shows the calluses he developed while trying to play in that style. Pretty brutal.
Typical of Vai to take a technique to the extreme. After watching that clip his stuff started showing up in my feed and the next one I watched had him in some kind of wrist/hand cast because of an injury that he gave himself holding a difficult chord and meditating on it. Whatever that means...
I've been on a project at work with an R&D guy that I found out is into guitars as well. He's possibly lending me one of his that just happens to be a Ibanez Jem. I don't think I know any Vai songs, but will have to learn something and post if I get it.
Enjoy and stay safe people!
