Good morning everyone!!
Boy is it hard to make time for social media when life is just as busy as it can possibly be!!
Guess what?! Over the weekend, we filled that last raised bed and made TWO MORE!! I'm so excited! We planted that last bed with a bunch of pepper and tomato seedlings that were ready and waiting.
'Where are the pictures?!', you ask... 'Where is the video?', you wonder...
Well, having the busy weekend we did, I had no time for photos then, and guess what? It is raining and gray and gross outside right now, so photos of that will have to wait.
However, I DO have photos of a cool new pet that @SnekLady has! Meet FRECKLE the axolotl!!
@SnekLady scrimped and saved and put together a lovely habitat for this crazy little beast.
Axolotls are cold water creatures, and need a temperature of mid to low 60's, which is not always easy to maintain here in south GA where it gets hot! She has it all set up though, with cooler fans for that purpose, and special filtration that doesn't cause too much water flow, (which can stress them out). I'm really proud of the research she has done and the fact that she has made sure to meet all of Freckle's needs no matter if that used up the money she had set aside for a camera for herself. She said, 'It is more important that Freckle is healthy and happy. I am responsible for her little life, and I can save up money and buy a camera later on.' ♥
Here is Freckle after @SnekLady added a sand substrate. (Freckle could not grip onto the glass floor, and was in danger of becoming stressed from that.)
You could tell she liked the substrate. She became more active and explored a lot more.
In case you are wondering, Freckle likes to eat blackworms, and also the red wigglers that we have growing in our worm composting bin outside. We are trying to get her to eat pelleted food as well, so she can eat that if we can't supply live foods for some reason, but so far she just spits it out. The stinker...
Thanks for stopping by to check out what we're up to! Do any of you Steemians out there also keep axolotls?
Have a fabulous day! ♥
