A Trip to the 2017 US Open
On Tuesday, September 5th I took a trip down to Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing, NY to witness the 2017 US Open Quarter Finals. It was my first time at a tennis tournament but it certainly won't be my last. The US Open was full of awesome food, intense sport and great times. I went with fellow STEEMians and
. Our ticket was for the evening session (7PM) and we arrived around 5:30. Here are some photo's from my trip to the US Open.

Court of Champions
The US Open has been around since 1881 and has seen some of the greatest tennis players in the world.
Arthur Ashe
The US Open's largest stage is named after Arthur Ashe.
Johnny Mac
Johnny McEnroe was in the house announcing the 2017 US Open on ESPN.
Andre Agassi
As a child, Agassi was always my favorite tennis player.
Arthur Ashe Stadium
The main court features all of the major matches in the tournament.
Fuku's 163 Burger
One of the best parts (if not THE best) of the day was this exclusive Fuku burger found only at the 2017 US Open food village. The 163 burger consists of 2 medium-rare patties made from a custom blend of Pat LaFrieda beef, American cheese, and a chickpea hozon special sauce loaded on top of a Chinese-style bing bun that Fuku owner David Chang developed in partnership with Harlem’s Hot Bread Kitchen. This was hands down the best burger I have had in my life and pictures don't do it justice.
An open court was the perfect place to sit and enjoy the 163 burger.

Venus - vs - Petra
One of the most exiting matches of the night was the Woman's quarterfinal match-up between Venus Williams and Petra Kvitová. The stadium was packed and the crowd was buzzing to witness tennis great Venus Williams play in person. The match went down to the wire but Venus was able to hold on to a victory and continue to the semi-finals.
RESULTS
V. Williams: (W) 6 - 3 - 7
P. Kvitová: (L) 3 - 6 - 6

Querrey -vs- Anderson
The Men's match of the night was a quarter final showdown between Sam Querrey and Kevin Anderson. It seemed like the stadium emptied out after the Venus Williams match and there was not as much excitement in the crowd for this one, although the Men clearly hit the ball much harder and the game-play itself is much more intense.
RESULTS
S. Querrey: (L) 6 - 7 - 3 - 6
K. Anderson: (W) 7 - 6 - 6 -7

Unisphere
We left the court after midnight and took a stroll through Flushing Meadow Park on our way to the car. Here's a shot of the steel Unisphere structure dedicated to Peace and Prosperity at the 1964 New York World's Fair.
