Tesla towing a Boeing
As part of a publicity stunt today, a Tesla Model X took to a taxiway at Melbourne Airport and towed a Qantas Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner plane. In doing so, it broke the Guinness World Record for the most weight towed by a wholly electric powered commercial vehicle.
The pictures are great and were done as a promotion of Qantas Frequent Flyer points and their partnership with Tesla. Qantas will provide various charging points for Tesla electric vehicles at airports around the country. It also enabled Qantas to show off one of their fancy new Boeing 787-9 aircraft. They have just ordered a bunch more of these planes to replace their ageing 747 fleet which they will phase out by 2020.
