These statues were surrounded by numerous macaques and tropical birds. Strangely, they never approached the Buddhas. Perhaps it was the incense that kept them away. Perhaps it was the reverence. Perhaps it was because my companion continued to let them climb on her shoulder and eat fruit out of her hair.
