Thai photo contest: Just bought more than ten plants for my garden, พึ่งไปซื้อต้นไม้สิบกว่าต้นที่งานประจำจังหวัดมาปลูกในสวน

This is my entry for #thaiphotocontest61 on garden photography hosted by Hive account@thaiteam. Last weekend I bought more than a dozen plants from the local provincial yearly fair which lasted for one week. There were more than fifty gardening shops full of all kinds of plants to tall trees on display. Arriving there on the last day meant that I got good prices for my plants. I skipped the orchids’ stalls and other exotic plants and concentrated on small fruit trees.

I preferred to buy small plants as they were much cheaper than grown trees and I wouldn’t feel so bad if they happened to perish for some reasons. I used to lose more than fifty fruit trees through flooding several years ago. So, that experience was quite painful and costly.

I got three pomegranate plants, three guavas, three bilimbings, banana shoots, and two Indian magnolia plus a custard apple plant! We did manage to plant some trees last Sunday. This month, the mango trees have become laden with fruits and all the scented plants were in bloom giving out sweet fragrance all around the house.

สัปดาห์ที่แล้วเราไปซื้อต้นไม้ที่งานประจำปี ที่จัดอยู่กลางเมืองมีร้านค้าขายของทุกอย่างในงาน โดยจัดงานเกือบสิบวัน มีร้านขายต้นไม้มากกว่าห้าสิบร้าน ขายต้นไม้ทุกประเภทตั้งแต่ดอกไม้ประดับ กล้วยไม้ ต้นไม้ขนาดใหญ่ และต้นไม้ผลมากมาย เราไม่ซื้อต้นไม้ต้นใหญ่แล้ว เพราะเคยมีต้นไม้ในสวนตายมากกว่าห้าสิบต้นตอนที่มีนํ้าท่วม ทำให้เกิดความเสียหายมาก และต้องหาต้นไม้มาปลูกเสริมอีกรอบ เราได้ต้นทับทิมสามต้น ต้นฝรั่งสี่ต้น ตะลิงปลิงสามต้น น้อยหน่าและกล้วยนํ้าว้าพันธ์ใหม่ และต้นจำปีแขกสองต้น จะได้มีดอกไม้ไหว้พระตลอดทั้งปี เราพากันปลูกต้นไม้ไปหลายต้นในสวน ที่เหลือยังหาที่ลงไม่ได้เลย

ต้นตะลิงปลิงและต้นฝรั่งลงดินแล้ว เพราะคาดว่าฝนจะมาตามข่าวพยากรณ์อากาศ

We did plant some new fruit saplings in the garden as the weather forecast said there would be rain soon.

ตอนนี้สวนอบอวลไปด้วยกลิ่นหอมของดอกแก้ว และดอกโมกข์ ปีนี้พวกนี้แข่งกันออกดอก และกระจายความหอมไปทั่วบ้าน แม้อากาศจะร้อนแต่มีลมพัดผ่านก็ทำให้สบายดี

Our garden also has lots of mangoes, lemons and some guava too.

I think my decision to become a gardener and farmer several years ago was vindicated by changes around the world. We are not rich but we could find food, vegetables and fruits for basic livelihood.

อย่างน้อยเราก็หาของกินได้ในสวน มีผักผลไม้กินตามฤดูกาล แม้ว่าวิถีชีวิตเป็นแบบพอเพียงสมถะ แต่ก็ไม่อดตายหากเกิดมีปัญหาวิกฤตในประเทศในอนาคต เราคิดว่าเศรษฐกิจพอเพียงนั้นเป็นทางรอดในระยะยาว เพราะเราคิดว่าสงครามโลกครั้งที่สามจะมาแน่นอน ฝรั่งที่รวยมหาศาลและพวกที่ปรึกษาระดับสูงต่างก็เตรียมตัวสำหรับสงครามโลกในอนาคต เงินทองเป็นเรื่องมายาแต่ข้าวปลาเป็นของจริง
