Yes, WEEK
When you have children of different ages, some holidays become week long endeavors that take a toll on you. I love Halloween though, so I am not complaining. It started last Saturday with Luna's birthday party and am sad to say, I have no pictures of that. I was running around tirelessly from kid to kid playing Lurch and making sure everyone was satisfied. I almost got a picture of her cake, but by the time I had my camera out, she had already blown out the candles. Good memories though!
The Cave Hike
Was one of the bigger highlights. All three of the little princesses are still talking about that. These next few pictures, are from the elementary school's celebration on Tuesday night which they called - Literacy Night. There was a huge pumpkin 'decorating' (not carving) contest, a costume march of all the kiddos, dancing and games and at the end as you left - every child got to pick out an age appropriate book. I got some pix of the pumpkins and a few costumes I liked and of course - a few of the princesses. Check it:
Khaldeesi's Party
Halloween Night
I have no pictures of this either. Hopefully, you can hear my joy and pain in the words typed. I honestly wasn't sure there would be any weather permitting traditional house raids, but it just so happened the princesses were strong enough to brave the freezing cold. A few counties over, there were reports of snow and as it was raining here, like I said, weather bug. Fortunately, the rain had ceased once we left dance class and got ready to fill our bags with candy! It was crazy cute watching Freya start to shiver from door to door, and it wasn't even her that ultimately called the night. It was Khaldeesi that said "I'm cold, can we go home now? We have lots of candy."
The Treat Trail
Today was the 5th set of costumes (though Freya only wanted to be Catboy 4 of the 5 times) we went through this week. I suggested that, since we would most likely be still, waiting in a line for this one, that they wear something warm. It was their idea to robe themselves in their unicorns! This Treat Trail was (totally packed) at Dogwood Park, which we frequent often for city events.
It was pretty fun, despite being there on time, and waiting an hour in line, just to fill their backpacks with candy. Tom and the Blue Buccaneers made an appearance (see video below) and we had a photo shoot, and to top it off (after rushing to the toilets to relieve my full-to-bursting bladder) they had an interesting yoga stick dance. Fantastic way to top off the week!
I Love Halloween
It's one of those holidays that, despite the devilish spirit within, brings out the best in people. There is tons of sharing and smiles around. Plus, who doesn't like some kind of candy? I may not have the sweetest of tooths, but those Heath bars the girls didn't like sure spoke loudly to my pallet! I hope everyone had fun out there this week and whatever you do, REMEMBER TO BE YOU! I always am, even with toffee stuck in my teeth!
