Far as I know, it wasn't Christopher Columbus. Who the heck is he anyway? A pirate? A murderer? A genocide causing rapist? What he was really doing was trying to find a better nautical route to the West Indies where he could enslave the native peoples and get rich off of stealing their spices. All on the dollar of Spanish Monarchs that over-taxed the people to pay for it.

It was actually the 'ancient' Greeks and the mathematician Pythagoras who first suggested and accepted the notion that the earth was round - not flat. Believe it or not, after all his crimes, reported and unreported, he was merely detained for a few weeks before they gave him everything back except his title.

To date, there are ten states in the United States that have removed the foul name attached to the 'holiday' and henceforth are calling it 'Indigenous People's Day'.
