I used the photo from the theater's facebook page with the permission of the theater.
I expected this performance the most in this year's season of the Veres 1 Theater, because it is one of my favorite Hungarian musicals. Of course, I know they also play in the Comedy Theater, but I’ve seen it many times and was curious about a newer version as well. The authors wrote the piece well at the time. As a child, even without understanding the depths, we just have fun with it carefree, but over time, the sentences and lyrics gain a different meaning and bring up deep feelings from people. One of the most beautiful fairy tales to not only watch but feel.
A great play directed by György Böhm has now been staged. We can already know some of the actors from the other performances of the Veres 1 Theater, and the other half of the actors may be familiar with other theaters in the country. Everyone brought their figure very well. Laughter was guaranteed when some of the characters appeared and spoke. And Edina Csáki and Gábor Fekete sang very well, I hope we can see them in more musical pieces. The costume of the ghosts was imaginative and the whole spectacle world matched. The stage of the Veres 1 Theater is not the largest in terms of size, nevertheless they managed to distribute everything well, they used every point of the stage.
They created a humorous yet emotional performance that is an experience for both children and adults. Really half fairy tale, half musical. This is also evidenced by the fact that the children sitting in line in front of me had a good laugh and enjoyed the performance. The lady sitting next to me, though, wasn't the first time she'd seen A padlás (The Attic), because she knew all the songs, hummed, and sang softly. So we could see a very good play on Saturday night.
