There are quite a few of us in Hungary who not only visit local theaters, but also visit the country as "theatre tourists" and sometimes foreign theaters as well. When I go to a theater further away, I always combine the trip with a short sightseeing tour or a visit to the beach in the summer. So I don't just travel for the theater. Vienna is not so far away that it is impossible to solve the trip without sleeping there. Specifically, from Budapest-Keleti railway station to the entrance of the Raimund Theater in Vienna, if the train is not late, then approx it's 3 hours and 10 minutes (unless I walk from the station to the theater and get lost on the way, but that's another story). The Rebecca musical is one of my favorites and I wanted to watch the original, especially since I speak some German so I don't have to watch the English subtitles. It's great for practicing German, because I'm doing something I'm interested in and like, so I learn more easily. Theater tourism is freedom for me. The trip turns off and the theater recharges.
Es gibt einige von uns in Ungarn, die nicht nur lokale Theater besuchen, sondern auch als "Theatertouristen" das Land und manchmal auch ausländische Theater besuchen. Wenn ich in ein weiter entferntes Theater gehe, verbinde ich den Ausflug immer mit einer kurzen Sightseeing-Tour oder im Sommer mit einem Strandbesuch. Ich reise also nicht nur fürs Theater. Wien ist nicht so weit entfernt, dass es unmöglich wäre, die Reise ohne eine Wiener Übernachtung zu machen. Konkret vom Bahnhof Budapest-Keleti bis zum Eingang des Raimund-Theaters, wenn der Zug keine Verspätung hat, dann sind es 3 Stunden und 10 Minuten (es sei denn, ich gehe vom Bahnhof zum Theater und verirre mich unterwegs, aber das ist eine andere Geschichte). Das Rebecca-Musical ist einer meiner Favoriten und ich wollte das Original sehen, ich spreche ganz gut Deutsch, und muss die englischen Untertitel nicht sehen. Es ist großartig, um Deutsch zu üben, weil ich etwas mache, das mich interessiert und das ich mag, und so lerne ich leichter. Theatertourismus ist für mich Freiheit.
