To ma’am Zoila,
Some say that she is a “strict” and “perfectionist” teacher who has high expectations of her students. But I know her as my second mama. Ma’am Zoila, or whom I call Ma’am Zoey, is the best teacher I’ve ever had. She taught me a lot of things, not just about school but also about living.
She is the reason why I’m still here.
I am a suicide survivor, and when I was in the ninth grade, I planned to end my life. But god’s plan is both magical and unexpected at the same time. I didn’t know that THAT accident would change my life up until now. The moment she saw my scars, she didn’t say a word. But instead, she hugged me until I find myself crying and telling everything to her. I never usually have a good connection to my own mom, and in hers, I felt the warm love and care of a mother to her child.
She didn’t have any idea that the person I wanted to be when I grew up was her. She inspired me to inspire others. She is not just a teacher, but she is also my mom and my best friend that opened my heart and the one who gave me another chance to open my heart to god, again.
Ma’am Zoey, we may not have a picture together, but the memories we’ve had will forever cherished in my head. The best memories with you will always remain as one of my best memory.
