So, now to resume where we left off, the first part of this post is to remind the Hivean people that proper sourcing or attribution is necessary for several reasons. We covered the "blanket" or "cover" statement, royalty-free and non-royalty-free image websites, a cup of coffee (snicker, snicker, snort, snort), visited Treasure Island in San Francisco Bay, and the flea market lol! So this is for a couple of reasons that we source properly:

1. so that photographers and/or artists get credit and recognition for their work,
2. so that it assures the reader that the images are being used correctly and with proper attribution, and
3. it eliminates the notion that the images are being used illicitly.

One of the main reasons for this is that one's work is monetized, and is deemed as commercial. The people on FB, Instagram, or MeWe or one of the many regular social sites share photos and memes all the time with rarely a mention, if ever, of attribution. Even though it is almost never given, there is no financial incentive for attributing to the original source, except in one's heart.

There are a lot of people who use Google, Bing, Pinterest, and Instagram. These are essentially doing the same thing: basically functioning as image-finders. These are great if one can find out who the original author or photographer is, but as I was looking on google/images, I noticed that they were listing many sites that you can go to, but they are almost all commercial sites and most if not all wanted a fee to use their service or start a trial period.

I want to remind the good people that proper sourcing or attribution does not pertain to photos and images only, but it also pertains to posts and articles that other people write. If you use any form of information from someone else's writing, then you need to attribute that credit to the author who wrote it. It is also wise to not use any real amount of someone else's work, as the purpose of your post is to write from your own heart and mind and is far more valuable anyways.

If you are quoting from another author, it is suggested to use the quote block or the quotation marks to designate those quotes. It is also highly suggested to only use exactly what you need, and no more since this is your post. (See the last paragraph lol). Some Hivians recommend no more than 50% of your post, which I do not agree with, to me your writing should indicate the majority of your own point of view on whatever subject matter you are discussing.
