I love my country because of the vibrant culture of its citizens, there is nowhere like home, that saying holds water in my love for my country. The people here have a distinct way of life and their approach to matters of life is unique, we find beauty in the little things of life and we have a way of making even the saddest day a bright one with jokes and puns. There is no dull moment, and everyday is a story in my dear country Nigeria, I have to add that the resilient nature of the citizens to keep on striving to meet up with their ever burning desire to attain a level of self sufficiency against all odds, it is like a story from a super hero comic, but in all we stand tall, persevere, and we have tons of success stories all around to show for it.
Challenges found in my country, well it is true that where there is a beacon of light there will always be shadows of darkness, the fact that my country is a third world country is a challenge in itself.
For a century now, "insecurity" has been a major threat in my country. Nigeria has witness a plaque of insecurity for the past years, leading to destruction of assets and loss of so many lives.
After the 2011 presidential election, Nigeria has been more insecure and has suffered more than ever in history due to religious-political crises, taking hits from bomb blast funded by the boko haram group. Between 2009 till date, over 3500 lives has been lost.
Therefore, insecurity has taken different forms in various part of the country. In the South-West, armed robbery has been rampant, in the North, bandits and boko haram operate with ease and in the south, there are series of kidnapping, robbery and terrorizing groups causing havoc in states. To this extent, insecurity is becoming a normal activity in the country.
Despite, high funding in the security budget, insecurity still penetrates the country.
Another challenge that my country Nigeria is facing is the "ineffectiveness of our political system". This has result to bad governance of people in the political sector, which has impact negatively on the peace, security and development in Nigeria. Due to the ineffectiveness of our political system, public affairs and public resources has been mismanaged by our so-called politicians in power, and it has caused depreciation in the economic and social development in the country.
Ineffective of political system can cause political instability. Democracy governance has proven the result of poor governance, causing the frequent change in the government i.e corruption in elections and replacement of government personnel in power.
Ineffective of political system has considered to come jointly with corruption. Corruption as it seems, is in every countries in the world, the rate of corruption just differs. Ranging from economics and political sectors, corruption has effected in various forms and ways.
Another challenge I find in my country, Nigeria is the "level of innovation and development in my country. Innovation is the use of new ideas and methods to improve the development of a country or an organisation. This challenge has been very crucial to the success of my country, Nigeria.
The country lacks adequate infrastructure, poor access to basic amenities, high rate of unemployment and conflicts( hunger and poverty). The country lacks the ability to adapt to new technologies, despite updated technologies have been imported into the country, they find it difficult to adapt and maintain them.
