Thursday is my day to get thoughtful on the blog and I have a couple neat ones this week. @Wesphilbin waves the #thoughtfuldailypost flag for us and has created as the curation account you can delegate to in order to boost its reward power for thoughtful posts.
I invite you share in my musings and the loosely-related music I pair with each.
Strict Tolerance
Marcus Aurelius https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marcus_Aurelius was Roman emperor for 19 years starting 161 AD and was known as a stoic philosopher. Strange profile for the empire known for its conquest and probably why he was the last of the five good emperors in an era of peace and stability. As it is, becoming Roman emperor was probably equivalent to beating the boss level so you must have some thoughtful chops.
Looking back on a conversation last week with , we concluded that focussing upon that which you might be able to control is one of the keys to be happy and fruitful. We can control ourselves and a little mental discipline is a good way to accomplish that. Why bother be strict and try and control others? As a parent, it seems the harder I might try, the less it works so Marcus may be on to something.
Besides that, it is a kind thing to be tolerant with others. Lately, there seems to be a movement started by Gen X to be tolerant with ourselves because we were told we were never good enough and only hard work matters. While we do have to be kinder to ourselves as we fail our way to victories, strictness should play a part and not be mutually exclusive form kindness.
Don't ask me how the song locked in my head while contemplating this thought is Twisted Sister. Be chrool to your scuel!
Just-In-Case Kindness
I am not sure who is responsible for this Word Porn but it seems fairly timely over the last couple years. Upheaval, uncertainty and change seems to have brought out the true colours in many people. I have heard it said that boredom is the birthplace of creativity but, for many, that coupled with seclusion leads to mental illness. While I like to be the one who does the checking in, I certainly can appreciate the kindness shown when it comes back this way.
There are so many people out there who could use a little checking in on by you. With the ability to reach out immediately via social media, instant messaging and even the blockchain, I believe we should do a little more of it. "Just in case it causes you joy" should be a good enough reason
It is the little things that matter the most when it comes to sustaining a level of peace and happiness. Why not be a little light in someone's day and check in on them?
Good day to you sunshine!
Plant Flowers!
A quick little funny one as a bonus. I am planting flowers this year......and maybe a few hot peppers to make things interesting!
Plant those flowers of kindness and give it away now.
It might be time for you to join this movement as it continues to gain momentum. A bonus is the curation by to whom I have delegated some #hive @thoughtfulposts/thoughtfulposts-introduction-or-a-thoughtfuldailypost is where you can get the details and please consider delegating to help make positivity extra rewarding.
I invite you to pen your own #thoughtfuldailypost any day of the week and spill your wisdom on the world via the blockchain.
