I'm not one to watch the news services, in fact I avoid them at all costs - It's rubbish you see, nothing but propaganda. However sometimes something comes across my radar and I feel inclined to delve into it a little further. Here's on such case.
I heard about an Australian aboriginal person (who happens also to be a community cop) who stoned a wombat to death last week in my home state of South Australia. Now, I have made particular mention of the fact that the asshole was aboriginal because of the fact that his "cultural background" has means he has completely avoided any prosecution for the brutal act, which was filmed, because he is of aboriginal descent. This method of killing things is apparently traditional. src
So, firstly, get with the fucking program you assholes! It's not ok for you to do this in our modern society, there is no need to do so, and you doing it simply alienates you even more than many of your other actions do. If we were back 45,000 years ago when you arrived, maybe it would be legit to do so, but now? Come on aboriginals, how about joining the rest of us in the modern world...And stop hiding behind your "culture" and breaking laws simply because that's how you used to do it!
You say you have to fight for equality? Well, fuck you, this shit isn't helping your cause and maybe actually acting equal to the rest of Australia may help, rather than seeking concessions and ways to flaunt the law of the land...The land and laws we all live in and under together, as Australians.
Equality is all Australians living under the law, not you making your own bullshit law up so you can brutalise the real true Australians like wombats and the other animals you brutalise in the name of your tradition.
If anyone else had done this they would be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, and universally hated, and yet the asshole aboriginal guy got off without a conviction...I don't know people, seems like aboriginals don't really value equality at all...Unless it's heavily weighted in their favour of course...But then, that's not really equality then is it?
So, yeah it's their traditional hunting method? Maybe, but we have supermarkets now, and there's no need to lark about killing wombats, certainly not by stoning them to death. The other thing here is why was it filmed? Is that also a traditional aboriginal hunting requirement from 45,000 years ago? Also, to be hunting with a can of beer too? Hmm, you aboriginals have some curious traditional hunting methods. It's disgusting and despicable that this behaviour is sought by aboriginals, and provided by the government. Shame government, and shame on you, aboriginals.
I suppose I shouldn't be surprised here considering when they first arrived some 45,000 years ago they promptly wiped out Australia's mega-fauna...That's a lot of stone throwing for sure. Why would they stop now just because the rest of society is precluded from doing so and modern society has evolved to the point that this is considered brutality.
Should we all be out there behaving in whatever manner we see fit, just because it is how it's always been? I mean, do the Romans still send Christians into the arena to fight against lions? Do the Danes still invade England like their Viking ancestors did 1000 years ago? Does Spain still conduct the inquisition like in 1478? No is the answer...They got with the program and evolved. Seemingly this aboriginal asshole hasn't, nor have they as a whole considering they see this sort of behaviour as a right.
I'm not sure on the politics of it all, the equality for aboriginals thing, and I don't really care to be honest, I care less and less when I see this sort of thing. It's a thought many have, but may not openly admit to.
What I do know is that this sort of thing does nothing for their cause. It simply widens the very divide they are trying to close. I know it's not politically correct to say so and that someone may come out with some left-wing argument about the whole thing but let's not lose sight of the bare facts:
Man stones wombat to death with glee and films it. There's no other way to put it really, and it's unacceptable in a modern society.
I'd dearly love to mete out some equality to that aboriginal in the video I've linked below. I can throw the fuck out of a rock, am deadly accurate and have a good range...After all, my ancestry dates back to the cavemen and it's how they used to hunt. Right?
Below from abc.net.au:
In a statement on Friday, Commissioner Stevens said the investigators established that as a "traditional Aboriginal man", he had an "appropriate permit to hunt wombats for food".
"Whilst distressing to many who viewed the video, it has been established that the senior community constable's actions were not inconsistent with traditional hunting practices," he said.
Equality for aboriginals? How about equality for everybody?
What the aboriginals should be doing is getting with the program, remembering and celebrating their traditions, but under the law of the land and consistent with modern society.
Shame on Australia for accepting this behaviour. Shame on the government, and same on the aboriginals for persisting with this line.
Rant complete.

P.s. Don't agree with me? That's ok of course. It's your choice, as it is mine to feel the way I do.
