In a few hours I have to be up for a long work day. Planes, trains and automobiles to get there. Well, no planes. I have a fever though and can't sleep or, perhaps there is too much on my mind and I can't sleep. Same result though, tomorrow is going to be a very long day.
I am in bed now but have tossed and turned for three hours. My wife has either not noticed or ignored it and is sleeping relatively soundly. I am a bit jealous.
Even though I use my phone as a wake up alarm, I generally don't spend time on it in bed as I think it destroys the sleep quality. Well, tonight that is rekt anyway.
Tomorrow's classes are going to be on dealing with some changes to their processes and how to effectively deal with them. Although I am paid by the company, the deal is that the focus is on improving the experience of the people. In Finland there is a saying "Do, or cry and do."
Regardless how people within a company view changes, they are employees with a job they get paid to do. Crying and doing is not a great approach. Often, the crying is due to a lack of understanding, poor communication and short-sightedness. My job tomorrow is to facilitate improvements in these areas.
You can see why I may view some of Steem as work :)
My work is enjoyable work though and I get to meet many different kinds of people and actually get to know them well. It means I get a pretty wide and deep view of lives and the challenges they face. I enjoy helping them and, they help me too.
Relationships are two way streets even if not directly. Sometimes, the help from one goes through an indirect path before it is reciprocated and it may no longer be apparent how the relationship debt has been repaid.
I find relationships and behaviours interesting and even though I am not technically minded, patterns of interaction between people are pretty easy to see and break down. Somewhere in there are formulas to be discovered, people are nowhere near as random as we tend to believe we are.
This is good because, it is what allows us to trust each other as the best indicator of future behaviour is past behaviour. It is not a hard and fast rule but it is a pretty good heuristic to work from.
Once you see a selection of reactions of one person to various changes, it is pretty easy and accurate to predict future reactions to new change. We all have our patterns, most don't recognise their own though which means affecting them for improvement is difficult. This is why a fresh set of eyes will find opportunity where a similar perspective will confirm position.
Speaking of opportunity, patterns and behaviour, I should try again to sleep.
