Greetings fellow musical Hivers 🤘
Hey hey hey! It's my favourite time of the week once again, dear reader 😁. Yeah, you know it's Three Tune Tuesday time and on today's post I'll share with you one band I usually like to listen and how I view its relation to female empowerment and sexuality 😊
This particular band is a regular appearance in my spotify list for my little shower shows 🤣🤣🤣 (note to self - 'Singing Songs' isn't a weird name for a spotify playlist right? 🤔)
Right, so before I embarrass myself any further (note to self - because I will anytime soon), let's get down to business 😎
Three Tune Tuesday 🎸
For those of you who don't know, Three Tune Tuesday was created by and as he explains 👇
The jist is as follows
Every Tuesday I'm going to share 3 songs which I like to listen to and I invite your feedback in the comments below. Better still, why not have a blast of your own Three Tune Tuesday and mention me in the post and I'll come and find the post and upvote it. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music. You'll also be in with a chance of winning a prize.
With that being said, for today's post I'll share 3 songs from a band called Portishead. I did a little research about them for this post and according to Wikipedia they are a 90's English band, from Bristol 😊. Which I didn't knew before today and that's one of the main reasons I find #ttt so fun and I like it so much 😁.
I'm not sure how I found about this band, but I'll guess that most likely was my boyfriend who showed it to me (note to self - damn, I love that man). After that first song I was hooked, especially because of the singer Beth Gibbons. I really dig her voice and tone, followed by their amazing band members who give it, in my opinion, a really sexy and mysterious vybe to their songs.
Ready for the tunes dear reader? Let's go! 😎
My 3 song recommendation 😎
1 - Portishead - Roads
This was the first song I heard from Portishead and you know me dear reader! I do like my tunes a little dark and melancolic from time to time 😊 Just the kind of music I like to chill out after a long day.
What do you think dear reader? Is it the type of tune you like? Well, if it isn't, don't give up on me just yet! Let's go over the next one a, which is a little bit more sassy 😆
2 - Portishead - Glory Box
From this live performance you can clearly see this is a band from a few years ago since I never saw a singer smoking while performing (note to self - how does she have such a clear neet voice?). Anyways, Glory Box is definitely my favourite song from them. It has that dark tune but also a bit mysterious and damn sexy if you ask me.
There is nothing like sensual dancing for some empowerment, am I right dear lady reader?
Actually I remembered how powerful sensual dancing in front of a mirror can do for your self-esteem and confidence because of a workshop I recently attended about female pleasure and sexuality. One of the main topics of importance is to love your body and in this workshop I participated we were asked to join a series of practical exercises. One of them was to write 3 things we love about your body and the other was for the next morning to dance in front of the mirror after waking up.
It was really fun, and although I was super embarrassed (note to self - why the hell do you feel embarrassed even if no one could see you?) I still did that dance to myself and by the end I really felt more confident to just go out there and be myself.
I leave my invite for you to do these 2 simple exercises. Write down 3 things you love about your body and dance in front of a mirror while a sexy song is playing. Write down how you felt afterwards or even better share it with me later in the comment section! I would love to read all about it. 😁
3 - Portishead - Only You
This last one I would say it's a bit more freaky and different but I really love it! The lyrics are simple and short but very interesting in my opinion. I especially like the unique instrumentals throughout the song and that change of tone in the chorus of the song. But then again, I really dig her voice 😍 (note to self - did I say that already?)
Final considerations 🙌
That's it from me today dear reader! I really hope you liked the songs I shared this week and maybe even tried those 2 little exercises I suggested 😁.
I wanted to show how the same band can transmit so many different sensations and vybes. At least from me, I get that different mixed feelings with Portishead ! I would love to see them live one day, as my boyfriend already did before he met me (note to self - that lucky bastard! I'm jealous, don't judge.) 😆.
Oh well, who knows someday! With Covid-19 restrictions going down I can't wait to get back to live concerts and getting to know more new tunes the old fashion way 😍.
Take care and see you next week 👋
