An endangered specie, dugong was found dead by the fishermen in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan last Friday.
Dugong is considered to be the 'first protected marine mammal' in the Philippines and deemed as critically endangered by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. Local residents believed that the dugong was whipped to the White Sand Bar.
The dugong is about 10 feet long and weighs around 400 kilos. Due to the stinking smell and might affect the health of the local residents, the carcass was immediately buried.
