GULMARG
Tourism is an integral part of the Kashmiri economy. Guided by the name "Paradise on Earth", Kashmir's mountainous landscape has been attracting tourists for centuries. Notable places are Dal Lake, Srinagar Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Yusargarg and Mughal Gardens etc. However, due to insurgency the tourism industry is badly affected.
SHRINAGAR
In recent years, Ladakh has emerged as a major center for adventure tourism. This part of the Greater Himalayas, with nude peaks and deep valleys, is called "Moon of the Earth", which was once known for the Silk Route of Upper Asia from the subcontinent. Leh is also emerging as a tourist destination.
