This meukutop-shaped monument known as Teuku Umar monument was built as a memorial to the location of the shot of Teuku Umar during a battle with the Dutch led by Van Der Dussen. Teuku umar was shot on February 11, 1899 at Gampong Ujong Kalak Meulaboh, West Aceh precisely at the location of the monument was erected.
